Rails Developer

Webpass is a San Francisco-based Internet Service Provider founded in 2003. We pride ourselves on delivering a simple Internet service designed around the needs of our customers. Unlike our competitors, we own and operate our Ethernet network, eliminating the dependence on phone and cable companies. We offer commercial Internet connections from 10 – 1000 Mbps and residential Internet connections at 100 or 200 Mbps. Webpass currently operates in major urban markets of San Francisco, Oakland, San Diego and Miami.

We need a talented Rails developer to join our software team developing public and private tools to power our business growth. You will be assigned projects to complete individually which typically requires 3 to 4 weeks to complete. So you will get to build lots of unique tools that snap into a larger customer application that runs our business.

Requirements

  • Experience developing within a MVC framework, specifically Rails
  • Experience working with a small development team
  • Working MySQL knowledge
  • Working GUI (HTML/JavaScript/CSS) knowledge
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Cooperative attitude is a must

Bonus Points if you:

  • Have experience with popular accounting and CRM solutions
  • Have experience with fixtures and unit testing, notably RSPEC/Cucumber/Factory Girl
  • Have used Haml & SASS templating

Network Engineer

The Network

The Webpass network includes thousands of network devices from a diverse group of manufacturers deployed across California. Every day there are opportunities to improve the network and maintenance tasks to complete. The network topography changes weekly and our BGP and OSPF configurations expand accordingly as we add more locations to our network. We do not resell or rely on the phone company’s network like other ISPs—we operate a 100% autonomous network.

The Job

Your responsibility is to facilitate the growth and stability of our network. You will work within the NOC to help design, deploy, and maintain the Webpass network. You will be expected to respond to network emergencies, improve network monitoring and insight, address and revise any network deficiencies, and improve our overall network stability.

The Requirements

  • Leadership within the networking team
  • BGP and OSPF design and implementation experience
  • 3-4 years networking experience
  • Bachelors degree or higher in a computer-related field
  • Superior troubleshooting skills
  • Network design experience

Account Executive-SF Bay Area

Additionally you will configure networking equipment before it is deployed and you will be assigned projects to complete independently. Your shift will be 9 AM to 5 PM Tuesday through Saturday.

Your shift will be 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday but your help desk team is open seven days a week and the support hours are expanding to two shifts in most cities over the next year.

Webpass is hiring for a Systems Administrator. This position will be responsible for designing, installing and maintaining all of the servers and associated software that we use to run our business.

Job Duties Include:

• Developing scalable server solutions
• Keeping existing servers patched and up-to-date
• Deploying new servers and VM’s as needed
• Maintaining mission critical server infrastructure including DNS, DHCP, and Mail servers
• Monitoring all possible components of Webpass systems

Job Requirements

• Unix/Linux expert (FreeBSD and Debian/Ubuntu preferred)
• Knowledge of common protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, DNS, SNMP, DHCP
• Scripting knowledge (BASH, Perl, Ruby, Python)
• 3-5 years of Systems Administrator experience
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Networking (CCNA, JNCIA) knowledge a plus
• Experience developing VM’s using Xen a plus
