Webpass Makes History In Miami

Posted October 22, 2015 by Webpass

History was made last month when we installed our network in Liberty Square, Miami’s oldest and largest redevelopment project, and 200 residents were able to access the Internet. The idea was sparked 8 years ago, but associated costs with building a network and the fear local Internet providers had about investing in building an infrastructure held Liberty Square back. Webpass saw this partnership as an opportunity to make the dream come true in a community that was in dire need of being better connected. The county estimates the redevelopment project will create over 2,000 jobs and provide new housing to existing residents as well as affordable rentals and single-family homes for other parts of Liberty Square. Prior to having Webpass residents and students would have to go to their nearby McDonalds to finish their homework or check email, which was not practical for many reasons. Webpass is honored to work with Miami-Dade County and Liberty Square to reduce the digital divide and bring Internet access to a part of Miami that deserves it.
