Network Architect

Webpass is seeking a Network Architect to join and lead our team in San Francisco.

The Network
The Webpass network includes thousands of devices, from a diverse group of manufacturers, deployed across four markets. Every day there are opportunities to improve the network, from day-to-day maintenance tasks to longer-term strategic projects. The network topography changes weekly and our BGP and OSPF configurations expand accordingly as we add more locations to our network. We do not resell or rely on the phone company’s network like other ISPs—we operate a 100% autonomous network.

The Role
Your responsibility is to facilitate the growth and stability of our network. You will lead the NOC team to help design, deploy, and maintain the Webpass network. You will be expected to respond to network emergencies, improve network monitoring and insight, address and revise any network deficiencies, and improve our overall network stability.

• Leadership within the networking team

Network Construction Technician

The Job
It all starts with you – we need you to construct our network.

You will go into new buildings that we bring on to our network and install and terminate CAT5 and fiber optic cables, bend EMT conduit, create cable pathways, patch and paint drywall, and install radio mounts and grounding systems.

Every building is different so we rely on our technicians to bring a diverse skillset and collaborate well with our stellar team in order to complete each project in a timely manner, all the while maintaining the highest level of workmanship possible.

What you bring to it…
• Superior customer service skills and outgoing personality – your are the face of Webpass in the field
• Four years of network installation experience
• Experience with cat5, cat6, 66 & 110blocks, 25 pair house wires, single-mode and multi-mode patch panels, and termination of fiber
• Low voltage installation experience and basic electrical skills
• General knowledge of Ethernet networks, routers, switches, hubs, etc.
• Valid drivers license and clean driving history

Residential Installer

Customers love our service, and that’s not just because of our speeds or our cost. It’s because of our simplicity of set-up, which starts with our world class Installation team.

The Role
Perform residential customer installations Wednesday thru Sundays, meeting with customers at their apartment or condo to install and test their Ethernet jack. The CAT 5 cable is already in the wall, but you’ll verify the jack is punched down correctly, make any required cross connects to complete the connection all the way back to the telecom closet, and connect to Webpass equipment. Beyond installations, our team provides maintenance, disconnects and troubleshooting in the Webpass residential buildings.

As the only Webpass employee that many of our customers meet face to face, you’ll be our brand ambassador, representing our company with the highest level of professionalism.

The Requirements

• Complete understanding of the physical layer, CAT 5, 66 blocks, 110 blocks, patch panels, multimode fiber, etc.
• 1 year of experience with CAT 5 Ethernet networks
• Positive personality and conversation skills.
• Superior troubleshooting skills
• Basic understanding of home networking equipment, routers, switches, VoIP devices, Roku, AppleTV, etc

Full Stack Developer

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Full Stack Developer to join our team and collaborate on the development of our enterprise and consumer-facing products and services.

At Webpass you’ll own features up and down the stack. You’ll work directly with business stakeholders to determine their needs and develop features to address them. As an ISP, Webpass offers a diverse set of technical challenges from building tools that maintain our high speed network to complex cloud-based enterprise systems (we don’t buy software).

What you bring:
• 2 years experience working with Web technologies
• You’ve worked with Ruby on Rails or a server-side MVC
• Experience with a JS framework (we use Backbone + React)
• Strong front-end skills

The Role
We are seeking Technical Support Engineers to respond to all customer tickets, resolve any issues our customers report, and work with the entire networking team to improve our network and processes. Additionally, our Technical Support team configures networking equipment before it is deployed and takes on additional projects that support the Network Ops team.

The Role
The GM is responsible for the office’s performance so skillful managing of diverse teams – construction, sales, installation, engineering, help desk and customer service – is a key priority. Furthermore, market penetration, brand development, and sales activity are another key focus. And lastly, the GM will oversee the growth of our network.

•Manage all aspects of the office’s operation including sales, construction, support and engineering.
•Partner closely with the all business groups on key operational areas including budgeting, recruiting and HR issues, compliance, company policies, marketing and branding campaigns, and operational best practices.
•Oversee construction and installation schedules, workflows, equipment inventory, and quality of work.
•Attend industry events and network in the Chicago real estate market to develop our brand and facilitate strategic sales along with our Sales Manager and local team.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of sales management, network construction, and business operations experience.

The Requirements
• 3+ years of management experience, ideally in real estate or telecom
• Familiarity with the Chicago commercial and residential real estate market
