What type of wireless routers do you recommend?
First, you should know Webpass doesn’t use a modem or modem/router combos. To connect to WiFi, all you need is a WiFi Ethernet router. But how do you pick the right one?
The most important thing is to make sure the WiFi router is for an Ethernet connection (i.e., has Ethernet ports). Our speeds are so fast, a cable or DSL router just won’t cut it.
Now, there are many WiFi Ethernet routers out there, and the one that’s right for you will depend on a number of factors. If you really want to make all your streams come true with the best WiFi connection possible, the most basic things to look for are:
- Dual Band
- Gigabit Ethernet ports
A few other things to keep in mind…
Number of devices & use: If you have a ton of devices (gaming systems, tablets, laptops, desktops, a few smart TVs, etc.) that need access to super fast WiFi, the extra cost for a more powerful WiFi router might be worth never having to suffer the buffer. But if you’re more of a casual user, you can probably get a less powerful router and still be livin’ the stream while saving yourself a little money.
Size & layout of your unit: Is there a place in your unit where WiFi never seems to work? A WiFi mesh router system might be right for you. A mesh-router system uses a network of routers placed throughout the unit to get signal to those dead spots a single WiFi signal can’t reach. If your unit is over 3,000 square feet, has an unusual layout, more than two stories, or interior brick walls, this might be the best way to eliminate spotty connectivity in areas farther away from the router.
